About Us

Humble beginnings - the Oxford Story

In the mid-1990’s, a panel shop owner, frustrated with the time taken by insurance companies to pay and the cash flow limitations this placed on his business, decided to establish a better way to fund panel shops.

And so, in 1994, out of a little office above a panel shop, in the industrial precinct of Mount Waverley Victoria, Oxford Funding was born.

In the absence of technology in those days, debtor finance involved manual data input and the physical collection of invoices. With a total staff size of six, the daily rush to collect and process payments within 24 hours kept everyone’s adrenaline pumping!

Such inconveniences did not prevent us from growing; in fact the rudimentary conditions in which we sprouted sharpened our acumen and resilience.

We developed a solid foundation, an intimate understanding of small and medium businesses (being one ourselves) and a passion for finding workable solutions for customers with all sorts of cash flow challenges. These combined strengths paved the way for unstoppable growth as technology and economic trends bowed fortuitously in our favour.

Today, Oxford Funding has approximately 50 staff. We are the leading tailored debtor finance specialist for businesses in many industries and the largest in Australia for panel shop repairers.

The integration with Bendigo Bank

By the turn of the century, year-on-year sales were racing ahead at over 20 per cent with no signs of slowing down. To keep up with the unwavering demand, in May 2005, we became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bendigo Bank, who wished to provide its own debtor finance solutions to their SME customers.

Following the union, we moved from the suburbs of eastern Melbourne to Bendigo Bank’s newly constructed Docklands premises.

With access to reduced cost of funds and increased opportunities for distribution through Bendigo Bank’s retail network, Oxford Funding continues to lead the way in providing tailored debtor finance solutions for a broad customer base.

Our driving force

Our success is built upon our roots as a small business and is reflected in our down-to-earth, practical approach to the individual needs of every customer.

A third of our existing staff have witnessed and shared in Oxford’s exciting journey, having been with us before the merge with Bendigo Bank. Two of the original six staff are still employed at Oxford and devote the same level of commitment as they did back in 1994.

Since our humble beginnings, our people’s dedication to the business and customer service has been the driving force behind our achievements. Our staff have been key contributors to the successes we enjoy today and we are proud to have their commitment.
